Tyrol/South Tyrol traffic: Changes at Brenner station will no longer be necessary

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Currently, regional rail traffic between Tyrol and South Tyrol is characterized by a particular shortcoming: due to different power systems, travelers have to change trains at Brenner station in both directions.

This is set to change from 2026, because ÖBB, the states of Tyrol and South Tyrol and STA – Südtiroler Transportstruktur AG have jointly ordered six Alstom Coradio Stream multiple units. These can cope with both power systems, so that the annoying transfers at Brenner station will probably no longer be necessary from 2026.
