The transport ministries of Germany and Slovenia have held talks on improving Ljubljana's air transport connections. The Slovenian delegation made it clear that they are interested in deepening cooperation with the Lufthansa Group.
In the first quarter of the current year, around 20.566 travelers flew with airlines from the Kranich Group from the Slovenian capital. Around 30 percent changed at a Lufthansa hub. The government now hopes that existing connections can be expanded.
In the previous year there were talks with the Italian subsidiary Air Dolomiti. Slovenia hoped to achieve deployment of Embraer 195. However, the negotiations have not led to any success. According to the Ministry of Transport, the costs for this should have been too high. Air Dolomiti confirmed that last year there was a meeting with representatives of the Slovenian government.
There will be a short-term increase in capacity as of July 1, 2022. Instead of the Bombardier CRJ900, Lufthansa will in future use Airbus A319s on the Frankfurt route. This route is usually served twice a day. For the time being, the use of larger aircraft is limited to the end of the 2022 summer timetable period.
