In Spain, there is a risk of inconvenience for passengers over the Christmas holidays. Three airlines are confronted with striking staff.

While the cabin crews at Vueling and Ryanair want to stop work, at Air Nostrum the pilots are on strike. Delays and cancellations can therefore occur, especially on routes within the country. According to the Mallorca Zeitung, the greatest effects are feared in the Spanish Vueling network. At least ten percent of all scheduled connections are to be canceled on the Christmas weekend, since the statutory minimum crew in the cabin cannot be guaranteed. In addition to the period from December 23rd to 26th, there are currently three other strike dates: The Vueling crews in Spain also want to strike from December 30th to January 2nd, on January 5th and 6th and on January 8th and 9th January go on strike.

The Iberia subsidiary Air Nostrum, which mainly serves domestic Spanish routes, is also on strike on four dates. The first ends today, but air travelers must also expect disruptions on December 26, 27, 29 and 30 and on January 2 and 3. Among other things, numerous routes within the Balearic Islands are affected. In this case, it is the pilots who are laying down their jobs. In addition, there has been a recurring walkout at Ryanair in Spain for several months. However, the striking cabin crew must comply with official requirements for minimum operations even during the protest period, so that there are hardly any effects on operational flight operations.
