Until a few years ago, the size of hand luggage was the same for almost all airlines. Only at that time there were deviations in terms of maximum weight. In the meantime, “cabin-friendly” labels are no longer a good guide, because the regulations are like a jungle and are regularly changed by some airlines.

Anyone who thinks that Ryanair and Wizzair have particularly brazen regulations for hand luggage has not yet flown with Condor. The German holiday airline allows the cheapest tariffs to be smaller than any other airline. Obviously they copied it from Ryanair and Wizzair, but refined it a little bit. In the case of low-cost airlines in particular, it is possible that more hand luggage can be taken on payment of a fee ("priority package"). Caution: It can be very expensive at the gate if the dimensions are too large or if you have a second piece of cabin luggage with you. With some airlines, women even run straight into the rip-off trap with their handbags. Fortunately, not all airlines are that tight.

The following overview shows the hand luggage regulations valid as of September 13, 2020, in each case with the cheapest economy tariff (without frequent flyer card and / or optional extras such as priority packages).
