The unions UFO and Vereinigung Cockpit are heavily criticizing statements made by Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr to shareholders and in the program "Offen Said". The employee representatives see this as a frontal attack on the collective agreements.

The crane boss said, among other things, that the collective agreements would cause a "cost explosion" and thus also endanger jobs. He also questioned the benefits of the social partnership and indicated, among other things, that the closure of Germanwings is also related to the high strike rate.

The unions claim that it should now be obvious that the management decided against Germanwings and in favor of the unrated Eurowings Discover. According to the two employee representatives, the statements by Carsten Spohr should be "an affront to all employees of the Lufthansa Group".

This is why the Lufthansa Executive Board is now calling for a clear commitment to the company's tariffs. The appeal is also directed towards the federal government that the state should intervene as the largest single shareholder and ensure “respect for the constitutionally provided rights of employees and the collective bargaining act”.
