UK: Easyjet announces 12 domestic routes

Due to ongoing travel restrictions and the UK government's complicated traffic light regime, Easyjet will be relocating capacities from the UK to Germany. The carrier has now announced that the UK route network will be rebuilt and that 12 new domestic routes will be served in the summer.

The airline will begin operations from Belfast City to London Gatwick and return to East Midlands and Leeds Bradford. The connections from Belfast to Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh and Glasgow will be increased by 60.000 seats.

The airline is expanding its domestic network to include three new UK airports, including the first-ever flight from Belfast City Airport to London Gatwick. Easyjet will also return with new flights to and from Belfast International Airport to Leeds Bradford and East Midlands airports, routes previously served by Aer Lingus Regional, operated by Stobart Air, providing a vital link between the regions.

“We know our customers can't wait to meet up with friends and family or to explore the UK, so these additional new routes should prove popular today and further strengthen our UK domestic network which gives customers even more choice. We regret the news about Stobart Air and are therefore pleased to continue to offer important regional connections from Belfast International Airport to East Midlands and Leeds Bradford airports, as well as to start Easyjet operations for the first time from Belfast City Airport to Gatwick. We also know that it is important for our customers to meet their loved ones overseas, so we continue to urge the UK government to add more countries to the Green List - which is sure possible - to make this possible, ”said Ali Gaward , UK manager at Easyjet.
