For a tragic reason, Jet2 flight LS756, operated on the Boeing 757-200 registered G-LSAJ, had to make a stopover in Newquay en route from Tenerife South to Manchester. Despite intensive medical efforts, a female passenger has died.

The Jet2 machine took off routinely on April 2, 2023 at around 15:04 p.m. in Tenerife South. It all looked like a normal flight, but it turned out very differently. A female passenger, who was around 60 years old, looked pale at first. A man traveling with her first helped her to the toilet. The flight attendants recognized the situation and allowed the woman to lie down on the seats in an exit row.

As a precaution, the captain was informed and he decided to make a stopover in Newquay. The transponder code 7700 was also set. However, the situation developed dramatically, because the passenger lost consciousness. Despite the best efforts of the crew and helping passengers, any help came too late. The woman died shortly thereafter and resuscitation measures that were initiated immediately were in vain.

The airline concerned said: “Flight LS 756 from Tenerife to Manchester was diverted to Cornwall Airport Newquay on Sunday evening because a passenger required medical assistance. Regrettably we can confirm that the customer has unfortunately passed away. Our thoughts are with the customer's family and friends at this difficult time. We would like to express our gratitude to our crew and the other customers who helped us on board."

After the Boeing 757-200 arrived at the parking position, the passenger was transported outside on a stretcher and immediately taken to a hospital. Unfortunately, the efforts there were also in vain, so that only death could be determined.
