The Ukrainian airline Air Ocean Airlines only started domestic traffic with Antonov An-2021s in autumn 148, but had to suspend flight operations indefinitely a few weeks later. According to the Ukrainian civil aviation authority, the AOC and operating license have been suspended for unspecified reasons.

The market entry of Air Ocean Airlines brought an intense W on some routescompetition, because with Motor Sich Airlines and Bees Airlines there were sometimes three domestic providers from Kiev-Schuljany. In addition, there is indirect competition with carriers that use the remote Borispil Airport. On one route, Motor Sich Airlines flew Antonov An-24s under a wet lease agreement for Air Ocean Airlines.

Obviously, this pattern has proven itself in domestic traffic, because on those routes on which there was competition with Motor Sich Airlines, the latter performed significantly better in terms of occupancy. The bottom line, however, is that the domestic flights with An-148 did not pay off for the newcomer, which is why at the beginning of January 2022 the Flight operations temporarily suspended had to become.

Although the aim is to restart in mid/late March 2022, this could be complicated because the Civil Aviation Authority of Ukraine has suspended AOC and Air Ocean Airlines' operating license. In concrete terms, this means that you are currently not authorized to carry out commercial flights. The office did not give any further reasons for the decision, but Air Ocean Airlines can receive the approvals again if all the requirements are met.
