The low-cost airline SkyUp is sued by the air security of Ukraine for the settlement of the debts in the amount of the equivalent of 1,43 million dollars. The first hearing is scheduled for December 22nd, 2020.

These are unpaid invoices as well as penalties and interest on arrears. The company is said to have accumulated this since the beginning of the year, reports CH-Aviation.com, citing court documents.

“We are really very concerned about the situation in the Ukrainian aviation industry. Prior to the pandemic, SkyUp Airlines had no overdue debt to any organization. As a result of the pandemic, the aviation and tourism industries around the world have practically stalled, so that we, like all participants in the aviation market, are in a difficult position, ”said SkyUp boss Dmitry Seroukhov. “We sent letters of support to the President, Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure, but today the question of government support for the aviation industry remains open. We also have a counter-financial question to the state regarding compensation for special flights that we carried out to bring more than 12.000 Ukrainians back from Egypt in March. The year is coming to an end, but we have not yet received the promised compensation. We wanted to use these funds to pay off the debt to UkSATSE. With regard to the current situation, we have agreed that the airline will make weekly payments since November and fully meet its current financial obligations. "
