Ukraine plans to take the airlines under the wings with a comparatively small sum of 17,93 million US dollars. The money that is to be distributed directly from the state budget to the carriers is intended in particular to secure jobs.

"The adoption of the draft law creating this budget program will allow for the preservation of jobs, the maintenance of decent wages for the airline's staff and a reduction in the cost of the compulsory state social insurance fund in the event of unemployment," Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal told Interfax Ukraine.

Further measures to be taken that are not taken into account in the 17,93 million US dollars: Those airlines that carried out return flights in the previous year are to be reimbursed 25 percent of the ATC and airport fees in Borispil and Lviv. In this context, Azur Air Ukraine, SkyUp Airlines, Windrose Airlines and Ukraine International were named by the head of government.
