The Ambassador of Ukraine in Ireland has strongly criticized the pricing policy of low-cost airline Ryanair. Among other things, the diplomat accuses the carrier of charging particularly high prices from Poland, for example. The carrier denied.
From the neighboring countries of Ukraine there is a particularly high demand from refugees who want to travel to friends, relatives and acquaintances in other EU countries. Ryanair's arch-rival Wizz Air has launched a program that helps refugee Ukrainians enables the use of free tickets.
According to Ambassador Larysa Gerasko, the situation with the Irish carrier should be completely different. The diplomat accuses Ryanair of significantly increasing prices, especially from Poland. He intends to discuss this fact shortly with the Irish Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan. He also calls for charter flights from Warsaw or Kraków to Dublin, because the current situation would make it very difficult for refugees to get regular tickets at all.
In Irish politics, too, there are increasing calls for Ryanair and Aer Lingus to issue free tickets for people fleeing Ukraine. The low-cost airline denies that prices from Poland have been drastically increased.
