According to a recent survey, around 52 percent of Austrians are critical of the loosening of the mask requirement, due on July 22, 2021. The opinion research institute Unique Research surveyed 500 people on behalf of the news magazine Profil.
Again, 45 percent of those surveyed have no concerns if the mask requirement - with the exception of supermarkets, pharmacies and public transport - should cease to apply from July 22, 2021. Of the ÖVP voters surveyed, 59 percent see the planned relaxation with concern, while supporters of the SPÖ see it as 55 percent.
On the other hand, FPÖ voters are not very concerned - only 23 percent are concerned that people will then become too relaxed and that the pandemic will be underestimated. (Voters from the Greens and NEOS not included due to the small sample size). According to Unique Research, the fluctuation range is 4,4 percent.
