The ADAC suspects on the basis of a survey that the travel behavior of Germans will not change fundamentally as a result of Corona. Overall, however, the travelers would become more demanding.

Flexibility in bookings will be very important in the future, and the same will apply to the demands on cancellation conditions, hygiene standards and good quality medical care. This emerges from a survey. Accordingly, vacation satisfaction remained high in 2020. However, it was not quite as high as in 2019. “Fully satisfied” this time was 54 percent, compared to 61 percent in the previous year.

It is also becoming clear that the majority of people tend to act wait and see for the time being. Very few plan their vacation in advance; at the time of the survey in November, just ten percent had already booked. Almost half want to make a decision shortly before departure or not at all, reports Reisevor9.de. Overall, Germany will again be a major focus as a travel destination in 2021, according to the ADAC. Around two thirds of those surveyed would very likely or probably want to spend their days off in this country this year.

47 percent would consider a trip to another European country. On the other hand, only 16 percent plan holidays outside Europe - according to the ADAC, mainly younger people. The ADAC has determined that 55 percent of Germans want to travel to Corona again as they did before. They therefore want to take longer trips again and travel to their usual destinations - although the association believes that Germany could become more popular as a travel destination in the medium term.
