Brazil has relaxed its corona-related entry regulations. Accordingly, unvaccinated holidaymakers are allowed to come back into the country, provided they can present a negative test result.

The new entry regulations were published last Monday in the official gazette of the Brazilian government and have thus come into force. It allows people from abroad who are not or not fully vaccinated to enter the country by air, land or sea on presentation of a negative test for the corona virus. Antigen or PCR tests no more than 24 hours old are required and must be in Portuguese, Spanish or English. However, unvaccinated children under the age of 24 do not require proof of testing. With the new regulation, the Brazilian government is reacting to the current recommendation of the WHO, which states, among other things, that in the current situation unvaccinated travelers should be offered an alternative to proof of vaccination. Vaccination against COVID-19 must be supported by proof in Portuguese, Spanish or English. The second vaccination must have been given no later than two weeks before entry. However, a QR code alone is not sufficient as proof, travelers must be able to prove which vaccine they received when and which batch number was noted on the vaccine. It is also mandatory that the full name of the immunized person is entered on the vaccination certificate. Proof of recovery is not recognized by the local authorities.
