United Airlines is offering free corona rapid tests on the New York (Newark) -London (Heathrow) route on a trial basis. The company hopes this will help drive demand. However, not all travelers benefit from it, because citizens of various countries cannot enter the United Kingdom or the USA.

Furthermore, UK does not recognize a negative rapid test result as a substitute for a PCR result. Depending on the country of origin of the trip - in the case of a change in Newark - a quarantine could also bloom on the island. The same applies in reverse to the United States of America.

Nevertheless, the United Airlines approach, which will start on November 16, 2020, shows that the industry is gradually becoming desperate, because demand is currently very close to absolute zero. An impenetrable patchwork of entry and quarantine regulations as well as a new wave of lockdowns in Europe naturally have a negative impact on the business of the airline and tourism industry. The industry demands that quick tests be carried out before departure and, in the event of a negative result, releases this from possible quarantine or further harassment.
