The 14.000 pilots in United uniform receive significantly more salary. A collective bargaining agreement between United and the cockpit union ALPA provides for an increase in salaries by 14,5 percent over a period of two years and compensation for training times. This is reported by the aviation portal Aero. According to this, a co-pilot at United Airlines starts his career with an annual salary of around 73.000 US dollars, a captain on a wide-bodied aircraft can earn more than 300.000 US dollars a year at United Airlines.

US airlines lack pilots, after the crisis the job market has been emptied. In addition to higher salaries, ALPA has achieved a new benefit in the negotiations with United: United pilots will receive eight weeks of paid parental leave for the first time.
