United Airlines and Houston Airport System (HAS) are investing more than $36 billion to expand and modernize Terminal B at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). Both partners want to make the flight experience more pleasant and efficient for up to 40 million passengers every year. The project includes, among other things, the construction of XNUMX new gates for domestic and long-haul flights.

The renovation will provide Terminal B North with two new passenger areas, replacing the existing departure halls from 1969. Terminal B North Concourse will span approximately 71.000 square meters over three levels and have 22 gates for narrowbody aircraft. In addition, the largest United ClubSM will open and welcome passengers with a clear view of the apron. Terminal B South Concourse will be converted so that slightly larger aircraft with a two-class configuration can also dock at the 30 gates where smaller regional jets with 50 seats are currently processed. Unlike in the current terminal, in the future boarding of all flights will take place via passenger boarding bridges.

“This investment strengthens United's position as a key partner of Houston Airport,” said Phil Griffith, vice president of United Airlines at IAH. “We employ 14.000 people at this airport and operate more than 400 flights daily. I can’t wait until the work is completed and we can offer our passengers an even more pleasant flying experience.”
