Since the beginning of the corona pandemic, Japan has largely closed itself off to tourists. A first relaxation step came into effect on June 3, 2022. Guided tour groups are now allowed to enter again under strict conditions.

The submission of a negative PCR test is not sufficient, because participants in tour groups must also provide proof of health insurance that covers Covid diseases on the territory of Japan. In addition, wearing masks is necessary at all times and a corresponding declaration that this is accepted must also be signed.

Individual exits are not provided. The guidelines of the Japanese Ministry of Tourism stipulate that groups must be accompanied by a tour guide at all times. Furthermore, they have to ensure that rooms or places with a high number of people are avoided and that the Japanese distance rules are observed.
