In the future, Lufthansa will use the CommonPass on flights from Frankfurt to the United States and will also be offering Mallorca passengers a prior check of corona test results on a voluntary basis. For the time being, only passengers who have been tested by Centogene can use the offer in the direction of the USA.

This applies to all Lufthansa flights from Frankfurt to the United States as well as the corresponding feeder flights via Frankfurt from Hamburg, Cologne, Berlin and Düsseldorf. The airline recommends that its guests continue to carry the original printed certificates with them on the trip in addition to the new digital proof until further notice.

Customers can conveniently download the app from the Android or IOS app store and then upload their test result to the app - after they have received an access code from Lufthansa by email 72 hours before their departure. The app then automatically compares the test certificates with the relevant current entry restrictions of the destination country and creates a travel certificate on this basis, provided it is a valid test document for the relevant travel destination. The certificate only shows the really relevant information, such as the test result, test method, period of validity and an hour counter since the time of the test, and therefore does not reveal any further personal health information. In addition, Lufthansa passengers who use the CommonPass app before their flights to the USA have free access to the Senator Lounge at Frankfurt Airport between 8 a.m. and 12.45 p.m.

CommonPass can not only be used for boarding, but takes a cross-industry approach. The added value for passengers will be increased by the fact that in the future other facilities will be able to incorporate the test results, such as concert halls or cinemas. Evidence of vaccinations can also be saved in the app in the future.

Pre-checking of digital test certificates

Since February, Lufthansa passengers have also been able to use a contact form to send their Covid-19 test certificates and confirmations of digital entry registrations to a specially set up Lufthansa Group Health Entry Support Center on selected flights from 72 hours before departure. This offer is now also available to all passengers who fly with Lufthansa from Palma de Mallorca to Germany.

Passengers who are booked on the relevant flights will receive a notification in advance and a link to a portal in which the relevant contact details and certificates can be stored. The documents are checked in the service center. After the check, the travelers receive an email confirming whether the certificates meet the entry requirements, or a response if the evidence is insufficient. Regardless of this, the original certificates must still be carried with you on the journey. On the one hand, this offers additional planning security and also speeds up the check-in and boarding process.
