USA: Freight Runners Express puts Saab 2000 into service

The US airline Freight Runners Express recently carried out the first passenger flight with the Saab 2000 model. The company, which actually specializes in cargo flights, has also been offering charter and wet lease services for some time.

So far, the carrier has relied on three Embraer 120 turboprop aircraft in the passage area. These have 30 seats and are marketed under the ACE Air Charter Express brand. The Saab 2000, which bears the ACE logo on the tail fin and is otherwise completely white, was entered in the US aviation register as N508FR.

This turboprop aircraft has a long history in Europe. First, like many Saab 2000s, it was delivered to Crossair in 1994. After being phased out from Swiss, HB-IZE went as D-AOLA to the now defunct regional airline OLT. Between 2007 and 2019 this Saab 2000 was on the road as G-CERY for Eastern Airways.

The turboprop aircraft had been parked since July 2019 and has now been put back into commercial flight service at Freight Runners Express under the ACE brand. The official first flight for the US operator was from University-Oxford Airport. The carrier also posted the video below.
