The government of Uzbekistan wants to privatize the state airline Uzbekistan Airways. A tender for a consulting company was published via a holding company.

In principle, the government's plan is not new, because as early as April 2022, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev issued a decree ordering, among other things, that at least 51 percent of Uzbekistan Airways should be sold. It is also planned that the first step of privatization must be initiated by September 1, 2022.

It can therefore be assumed that a formal call for tenders will be published shortly. Uzbekistan wants to secure the support of an international consulting agency to evaluate possible offers. This is exactly what you are now looking for via a state holding company. Interested parties can register until September 17, 2022 and submit their offers for the consulting contract.

First, the current state of affairs in Uzbek civil aviation will be extensively analyzed. The assets of Uzbekistan Airways are also to be valued. In a further step, the privatization of the carrier is then to be formally tendered. It is currently unclear whether the state will remain on board as a minority shareholder. This question should also be discussed in more detail with the help of the consultants.
