The Czech aircraft manufacturer Let Aircraft Industries was able to achieve a sales success at the Paris Air Show. Uzbekistan Airways wants up to four copies for low-volume domestic routes.

The order consists of two firm orders for the Let L-410 UVP-E20 model and two options. The fact that the first unit is to be handed over to the Uzbek carrier as early as July 2023 strongly suggests that the actual contract was signed some time ago and was only symbolically signed during the fair for reasons of prestige.

It happens time and again that manufacturers and airlines or lessors postpone the announcement of orders and then communicate within the framework of major trade fairs such as the Dubai Air Show, Farnborough Air Show or the Paris Air Show. For all those involved it obviously has special prestige to announce their orders during this and other events.

The Let 410 is a small turboprop aircraft that can carry a maximum of 19 passengers. It is considered to be extremely robust, but offers passengers only rudimentary comfort at best. On the other hand, the possible uses are very flexible, because the machine is stol-capable and can also take off and land on unpaved runways. It is precisely these circumstances that play a major role for Uzbekistan Airways, because the Let 410 is to be used specifically on low-volume domestic routes, but also in structurally weak regions of the country. In comparison, the Let 410 is inexpensive in terms of acquisition and operating costs and, due to its low capacity, this model can also be operated without a flight attendant.

The second ordered copy is expected to go to the carrier based in Tashkent towards the end of 2023. If the pattern proves successful for the purposes intended by Uzbekistan Airways, the options for the two other Let 410s will be drawn. So it remains to be seen how the Czech model will fare on the carrier's domestic routes.
