Fiji is reopening to cruise ships after more than two years. However, there are some requirements to be allowed to go ashore in this state.

Before the corona pandemic, the Fiji Islands were a popular cruise destination. Numerous shipping companies have included the small Pacific state in their schedules. That changed abruptly in March 2020, because the archipelago literally sealed itself off from the outside world. International flights and cruises were banned.

Only half a year ago, the Fiji Islands took international air traffic again. Now they have opened up again for cruise ships. In order to be allowed to go ashore, you have to observe the special entry regulations for the sea route: In principle, all persons over the age of 16 must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Only those vaccines that are on the list of the local Ministry of Health are recognized. This is not a problem for Europeans, since all vaccines used in the EU are recognised.

Furthermore, a valid travel health insurance that covers treatment costs due to Covid-19 diseases in Fiji must be presented. A negative rapid antigen test, which must not be more than 24 hours old, must also be presented. Alternatively, PCR results are also accepted, but only a few ships have PCR laboratories on board.
