The vaccination center of the State of Berlin, located at the former central airport Berlin-Tempelhof, will temporarily close its doors on April 20, 2021. AstraZeneca vaccine was previously administered at this location.

According to Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg, the vaccine from Biontech / Pfizer, but also that from Moderna, will in future be inoculated at the “THF”. To do this, other cooling devices have to be brought in and put into operation. The state of Berlin specifies the duration of the "renovation measures" as two weeks.

People who received the first dose of AstraZeneca at this vaccination center are said to have their second with the drug from Biontech / Pfizer. The German Vaccination Commission considers this procedure to be safe and sensible. The WHO, but also the EMA, are violently criticizing Germany's actions and even consider them to be risky.

In the European Union, Germany is currently the only country that regularly administers vaccines from different manufacturers to the same people. The procedure is controversial, but Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) even speaks of “boosters with mRNA vaccines”. The WHO considers the procedure to be risky.
