The Cockpit Association reacts a little bit sniffly to the latest statements by Lufthansa major shareholder Heinz-Hermann Thiele. The union emphasizes that it is open to an agreement on a crisis contribution at short notice.

Thiele said Earlier this weekthat if there is no rapprochement between the collective bargaining partners, Lufthansa should then issue “large-scale dismissals immediately”. The VC claims that the group's board of directors is currently giving the impression that a quick deal is not desired.

"As already discussed at the tariff table, terminations by cockpit employees without a reliable forecast contradict a social partnership to deal with a crisis," said Dr. Marcel Gröls, Chairman of Tariff Policy. "We are all currently driving on sight, which is why we expect Lufthansa to accompany the negotiation process with a sense of proportion and not try to profit from the crisis at the expense of the employees."
