Cockpit union: At Aerologic, the signs are pointing to a strike

At the cargo airline Aerologic, the signs are on strike. The Cockpit Association announced that the pilots in a ballot "clearly spoke out in favor of industrial action to enforce collective agreements".

Aerologic is a joint venture between Lufthansa and Deutsche Post-DHL. In contrast to Lufthansa Cargo and European Air Transport, there is no collective agreement. For a long time now, the Cockpit Association has accused the Kranich Group of deliberately relocating capacity to Aerologic in order to be able to "circumvent" the collective agreement.

The fronts now appear to have hardened as, according to the pilots' union, any attempts to make contact that could have led to negotiations for a collective agreement have gone unanswered by Aerologic management. "To date, Aerologic has not responded to this, not even a refusal," said the VC in a broadcast.

"We are faced with an incomprehensible refusal by the employer to hold collective bargaining talks," says Stefan Herth, President of VC. “Aerologic's behavior is playing with fire. Wanting to avoid conversations is not an option, especially in this day and age. By refusing to talk, a way into the conflict is accepted. A culture of dialogue and negotiation has rightly established itself in our society. Therefore, the complete refusal of the Aerologic management can only be interpreted as a deliberate escalation. Even on the Lufthansa Group Executive Board, nobody should overlook this."

The Cockpit Association is particularly critical of the fact that the German state is involved in both Lufthansa and Deutsche Post-DHL. “The fact that the traditional large companies Post/DHL and Lufthansa persistently refuse their employees at Aerologic the statutory collective agreements is completely unacceptable and cannot be expected of the employees. Especially since the state holds significant shares in both companies,” says Marcel Gröls, Chairman of Tariff Policy. “Industrial disputes are always the last resort. As long as talks are consistently refused, they unfortunately remain the only means until Aerologic goes to the tariff table with us in an orderly manner".

In the XNUMXs, the saying “destroy what destroys you” was well known. The correct one today is probably “destroy what lets you live”.
A reasonable discussion between pilots and management could bring a solution...
but reason and VC are just two worlds.
