The most recent negotiations between Lufthansa and Vereinigung Cockpit have not led to any result. Now the employee representatives are announcing that "strike is possible with immediate effect".

Negotiations took place last week, but according to VC, as of Friday, the parties broke up without an agreement. "Despite intensive talks between our collective bargaining committee and the employer, no conclusion could be reached about a promising continuation of the negotiations," says Matthias Baier, press spokesman for the Cockpit Association.

Lufthansa sent an improved offer to VC on Thursday morning, but the tariff commission believes that it should be a step in the right direction, but it was rated as "insufficient".

In July 2022, the pilots' union asked its members to Ballot on possible strike action. 97,6 percent of Lufthansa pilots and 99,3 percent of Lufthansa cargo pilots voted in favor of any walkouts. So far, however, the Cockpit Association has not called for a strike.

"We're too far apart at the moment. In addition to compensating for the loss in real wages, what we now need above all is a future-proof solution for the remuneration structure in all professional groups," says Baier. It also states that the “legal and organizational preparations for strike action have been started”. Nevertheless, one is available for further negotiations.
