Indian airline Jet Airways' comeback will be delayed indefinitely. Actually, the intention was to take off again in September 2022, but negotiations with engine manufacturers are dragging on.
Indian media reports that the comeback flight in September 2022 is almost impossible. Although the consortium that bought the carrier out of the bankruptcy estate is working at full speed, negotiations with aircraft manufacturers and engine manufacturers have not yet progressed sufficiently.
From a legal point of view, one could take off, because the AOC and operating license have already been granted again. However, some legacy issues still need to be settled. This includes, among other things, the supply of engines. Managing director Sanjiv Kapoor doesn't want to cause any unnecessary stress and accepts that the comeback will be delayed by a few weeks.
Among other things, the manager explains that it takes the necessary time to conclude new contracts for aircraft, engines and maintenance. Whether you take off a few days earlier or later should no longer matter given the long time that Jet Airways has been on the ground. You don't want to repeat the mistakes made by previous managements.
