Due to the closure of the Germany branch, SunExpress cannot offer flights between the Federal Republic and Egypt for reasons of traffic law. Now they are cooperating with Air Cairo and want to close the gap that has arisen.
In the previous year, the closure of SunExpress Germany caused a stir. Also pull numerous employees in court and sue to establish a transfer of operations to Eurowings Discover. For reasons of traffic law, the Turkish SunExpress is not allowed to offer flights within the EU or from the EU to third countries (with the exception of Turkey).
The Hurghada flights will therefore in future be operated by the Egypt Air subsidiary Air Cairo. SunExpress will coordinate the sales, but the operational implementation will be carried out by the Egyptian aviation company. The Egypt Air subsidiary operates flights from a total of 14 departure airports in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and offers up to 30 connections per week. From the end of March, the Air Cairo flight offers to Hurghada will be bookable via SunExpress.
“I am convinced that the Air Cairo product fits the needs of our customers. We offer our partners 'the best of both worlds'. A local product at an unbeatable price-performance ratio with reliable German-speaking Egyptian expertise in sales, ”explains Peter Glade, Chief Commercial Officer of SunExpress.
It is currently planned to start the flight program at the end of May / beginning of June 2021 and gradually expand it until the summer holidays. In the course of the partnership, SunExpress and Air Cairo are planning to expand their joint offer to other airports outside of German-speaking countries.
