On November 8, 2020, Air France will operate the last flight from Berlin-Tegel at around 15 p.m. However, due to the corona pandemic, this event is not open to the public. The operating company announced that only holders of tickets for this flight and accredited media are allowed to enter the area.

However, the event will be broadcast live by Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg. Air France completed its first scheduled flight to Tegel on January 2, 1960 with a Lockheed Super Constellation. Sixty years later, things come full circle, because on November 8th at 15.00 p.m. a plane of the French airline takes off from TXL for Paris for the very last time.

Tomorrow, Saturday 7 November 2020, the last scheduled flights will leave Tegel Airport. Berlin-Tegel Airport, TXL for short, will close on Sunday, November 8th, 2020. This means that all air traffic in the capital region will be concentrated at Berlin Brandenburg Willy Brandt Airport. On the night of November 7th to 8th, the third and last big wave of moves takes place. 31 airlines are moving to BER, including the Lufthansa Group with Austrian, Swiss and Brussels Airlines as well as Air France and British Airways.

All airlines flying from TXL for the last time will be duly bid farewell with a traditional water fountain by the fire brigade. Lufthansa will use an Airbus A1954-1955 wide-body aircraft on its very last flights to and from TXL (LH350 Munich-Berlin and LH900 Berlin-Munich). For the last day of scheduled operations, several special and sightseeing flights from TXL were also organized by various organizers. The flights are operated by Eurowings and Sundair.
