The start of the main travel season at Vienna Airport went well: the airport recorded a total of around 175.000 passengers on the first holiday weekend, which is around 85% of the pre-crisis level. There were no noteworthy irregularities.

"The start of summer was a success! Since the early hours of July 2, 2022, the entire Vienna Airport team has been working to ensure that travelers have a good and comfortable start to their summer vacation. That worked well, despite the high number of passengers, airport operations on the first weekend of the holiday went largely smoothly. Our thanks go to all our colleagues in the terminal, at the security check, at check-in, on the apron and to all system partners and airlines for their great and professional commitment. We wish our passengers a safe journey and a nice summer!” said the board members of Flughafen Wien AG, Julian Jäger and Günther Ofner.
