Spanish low-cost airline Volotea will reduce its presence at Vienna International Airport. The carrier only plans to offer one destination from Austria's largest airport. The connection to Bilbao is to be permanently eliminated.

Volotea has also flown to Vienna from other destinations in the past, such as Genoa. Before the corona pandemic, Bilbao and Nantes were on the program. The resumption of both destinations was announced until the very end, but the Spanish city is now being dispensed with. It is noteworthy at this point that Ryanair and Wizz Air also stay away from Vienna-Bilbao.

From April 8, 2022, Volotea will initially fly three times a week between Nantes and the Austrian capital. The flight days are Monday, Wednesday and Friday. As of April 27, 2022, the Wednesday rotation will be eliminated, so that according to the current planning status, two rotations per week are planned until the end of the 2022 summer timetable period. As in the past, seasonal service is planned for the warm season.
