The state will support Vietnam Airlines with 12 trillion dong. The National Assembly gave the green light for this on Tuesday. Converted into euros, the company will receive around 439 million euros.
At the same time, the government is taking further measures. Existing loans with the state bank will be extended. In addition, new shares will be issued, all of which will be subscribed by the government on behalf of the state. Like many other airlines, Vietnam Airlines came under considerable pressure from the corona crisis.
The carrier has been a member of the SkyTeam aviation alliance since 2010, but also works closely with the Star Alliance member ANA. Before the corona crisis, the fleet consisted of 105 aircraft, including 20 Airbus A321neo, 14 A350-900, 11 Boeing 787-9 and four 787-10.
