The Austrian Federal Railways are discontinuing their last remaining international long-distance bus routes. These are the intercity buses that run from Villach to Venice and Trieste. The seasonal offer that has existed for several years will no longer exist in 2023, an ÖBB spokesman confirmed to Aviation.Direct.

Austrian Federal Railways have been running daily buses from Villach to Trieste and Venice for several years. These will no longer exist in the future, because the ÖBB will discontinue them. Operationally, the journeys were carried out by the subsidiary Österreichische Postbus AG. This change has no effect on the Klagenfurt-Graz intercity bus route, on which the intervals will be more frequent.

An ÖBB spokesman told Aviation.Direct: "The intercity bus connection Villach - Udine - Venice was a seasonal offer. This will no longer be offered in the new season in the 2023 timetable. When it comes to offerings to Italy, ÖBB is focusing on existing rail offers”.

The intercity buses are a special feature in the ÖBB route network, because the rail tariff applies. In contrast to the long-distance buses operated by competitors Blaguss Reisen and Dr. Richard are offered under the Flixbus brand, the climate ticket is valid. There is a portrait of the intercity buses to Italy and between Klagenfurt and Graz under this link at Aviation.Direct.

This is really a joke! The only viable connection to get from Villach to Venice and back in one day. The travel times of the trains are an impertinence!!! 5:00 am from Villach Hbf!! Departure!
