The Vilnius-based airline Heston Airlines intends to offer charter flights to the United States of America in the future. A corresponding application was made in the USA for the areas of passengers and cargo. A request was also made for expedited processing.
An Openskies Agreement has existed between the European Union and the United States of America for several years. Nevertheless, airlines have to apply for their formal approval as part of their market entry. Once this is granted, flights can be operated between any point in the EU and the USA. A distinction is made between charter and regular scheduled flights.
Heston Airlines has also applied to allow stopovers in the United States. This could be used, for example, for onward flights within the USA, but also to other countries. This would be necessary for ACMI services from Germany, for example, because Heston Airlines has been operating as a possible wet lease partner for a German holiday airline. The company declined to comment on possible plans.
The carrier's fleet currently consists of three Airbus A330-300 and three A320. The fleet is to be increased by two more examples of the latter machine type. Heston Airlines is a fledgling airline that just last year obtain their AOC and operating license hat.
