Some time ago, the airlines Volotea and Eurowings announced a reciprocal sales partnership. This has now been officially sealed, because the declaration of intent, which was signed in March 2023, has now been followed by a formal cooperation agreement.

A total of 150 flight routes are affected, which are to be made bookable with the other airline in the future. There are 104 routes operated by Eurowings and 46 by Volotea. According to a joint statement, there should be no overlaps in the route network, so that the selection on both websites should grow.

“We are very pleased to formalize our partnership with Eurowings and expand our reach into the German market – an important step in relation to our larger growth plans in Europe. This agreement is an exciting opportunity for Volotea to offer non-stop, affordable flights to even more customers, allowing them to discover new destinations in our extensive route network,” explains Carlos Muñoz, Founder and CEO of Volotea.

With regard to the cooperation with the Lufthansa subsidiary, the Spanish low-cost airline will be taking on eight new routes from Germany from the end of May or the beginning of October. In the future, flights to France and Italy will be offered from Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg and Stuttgart. In the future, Bordeaux, Lyon, Nantes, Florence and Verona will also be reached non-stop from Germany via Volotea.

“The partnership with Volotea is another milestone on our way to strengthening the 'euro' in the Eurowings brand name. Our customers can now benefit from an even larger range of inexpensive direct flights within Europe. In addition, we are significantly strengthening our sales force, especially in southern Europe,” says Eurowings boss Jens Bischof.
