Volotea continues to expand A320 fleet

The Spanish low-cost airline Volotea will expand the Airbus A320 sub-fleet by another six units. These should be adopted later this year. These are used aircraft that are obtained from lessors.

In the middle of the corona pandemic, Volotea surprised everyone with the decision that the Machine type Airbus A320 is fleeted. Previously, Boeing 717 and A319 were in the air. One was the last European operator of the regional jets still developed by McDonnell Douglas. Volotea separated from everyone in the meantime B717.

Volotea is now in the air with an all Airbus fleet. The A320 sub-fleet is now being expanded by six aircraft. The company explains, among other things, that half of the additional jets are needed as so-called backup aircraft. Furthermore, these would increase competitiveness and should be better for the climate due to the higher seating capacity.
