The Spanish low-cost airline Volotea will in future have so-called C-Checks carried out in the technical operations of its competitor Iberia. The first Airbus A320 will be overhauled in January 2023 at the Barcelona and Madrid sites.
The two companies have announced that the term of the maintenance agreement is initially 5,5 years. Volotea selected Iberia Maintenance following an extensive tendering process, from which the Spanish provider emerged victorious for the quality of its services. The contract includes the performance of 'C-Checks' at Iberia Maintenance's facilities in Madrid and Barcelona, underscoring Volotea's commitment to the Spanish aircraft maintenance industry.
The "C-Checks" consist of the inspection, overhaul, maintenance and replacement of aircraft parts and also include preventive maintenance work. These checks, which must be performed every 14-16 months, are considered the most comprehensive assessments on the market.
At its locations in Madrid and Barcelona, Iberia has six hangars with 16 slots and the necessary workshops for the maintenance and material management of the A320 aircraft and their engines.
“This long-term contract secures us first-class maintenance services for our A320 fleet, which we also carry out with a leading and well-known Spanish company like Iberia Maintenance. In addition, for Volotea, an airline whose top priority is safety, it is vital to have the highest quality inspection services,” said Carlos Muñoz, Volotea Founder and CEO.
