Spanish airline Wamos Air, a company of Grupo Wamos, has repaid the last installment of a loan granted by the Spanish sovereign wealth fund SEPI (Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones Industriales) during the Covid-19 pandemic. With this final payment of 67,4 million euros including interest, Wamos Air has repaid the entire 85 million euro loan, which was part of a state rescue program for strategic companies.

The repayment is the third and final tranche after payments of €9,6 million in July 2024 and €8 million in December 2023. Wamos Air is one of five Spanish airlines that benefited from the Covid aid measures. However, the other airlines - Air Europa, Plus Ultra Líneas Aéreas, Air Nostrum and Volotea - have not yet fully repaid their loans.

The repayments come at a time when Wamos Air was recently acquired by the Abra Group, which also includes Avianca and GOL Linhas Aéreas. This acquisition aims to strengthen the group's presence in the international market, particularly in long-haul flights between Europe and Latin America.
