The German regional airport Weeze was able to exceed the previous year's volume on Monday, August 21, 2023. To date, the airport has been used by 1.037.269 travelers.

Management attributes this circumstance to the fact that Ryanair has expanded its offering and that other carriers have settled there, including Air Arabia Maroc and Sky Express. From the beginning of the year to July, the airport on the Lower Rhine recorded a 51 percent increase in passengers.

Airport manager Sebastian Papst said: “We are pleased that we were able to surpass the 1 million year-end result for '22 after only 7 1/2 months. The wide and inexpensive range of flights in connection with the advantages of a manageable, regional airport - that is increasingly popular with our international guests." Pope expects around 1,4 million passengers by the end of the year.
