The German airport Weeze was able to increase significantly during the summer holidays of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. During the six weeks, there were 279.117 passengers, around 50 percent more than in the same period last year.

The number of flight movements was also significantly higher. These increased by 48 percent to 1.645 take-offs and landings. The airport announced that a new summer vacation record had been achieved. Due to the proximity to the Netherlands, it is expected that many more passengers will use the offers of the airlines operating from Weeze in the coming weeks.

“The figures for the summer holidays confirm the clear upward trend at our airport. The inexpensive tickets from Weeze are particularly in demand among holidaymakers and for visits to family or friends this year," says Dr. Sebastian Papst, Managing Director at Weeze Airport. In addition, the airport is known among its guests for quick and smooth handling. This also applies when you return. The luggage of the guests is already rotating on the baggage carousel just a few minutes after landing.

In the past few months, 39 destinations in ten countries have been served from Weeze. For comparison: in 2022 there were still 28 destinations. But the boom in Weeze Airport will continue to prevail in the next few weeks. The reason: In some Dutch provinces, the summer holidays are still going on, and many Dutch people start their vacation from Weeze. The holiday season at the airport near the border therefore lasts until the beginning of September.
