The World Economic Forum begins on Sunday, May 22, 2022 in Davos, Switzerland. Zurich Airport will again receive numerous special visitors, but far fewer additional flight movements are expected than in the past.
This year's World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos begins on Sunday, May 22, 2022 and lasts up to and including Thursday, May 26, 2022. Additional flight movements from business jets and state aircraft are expected in the days before, during and after the WEF. This year, the number of additional take-offs and landings is expected to be around a third lower than in the past, around 1.000 additional flight movements were recorded. There will also be more political and security-related helicopter transports and thus increased noise emissions. However, the total number of helicopter movements will also be lower than in previous years, as there will be no civilian helicopter movements to Davos.
Reserved stands are available for delegations that have already registered and are allocated according to the size of the aircraft. The planes of the other WEF guests are given time windows of a maximum of two hours for loading and unloading. They then have to leave Zurich Airport and switch to an airport of their choice. Numerous machines fly directly to Dübendorf airfield again.
The regular visitor offers in and around Zurich Airport are available for aviation fans and interested parties - such as the spotter place at the Heligrill on the west side of Zurich Airport, the spotter place Oberglatt in the north or the observation deck B. This is open from 20 to 27 May 2022 open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 20:00 p.m. (instead of 10:00 a.m. to 18:00 p.m.).
