For some, being a flight attendant is a kind of transitional job and for others it is the absolute dream job. In the USA, Bette Nash has been retiring from her job with American Airlines for the proud 65 years and hasn't even thought about retiring.
The flight attendant from Boston has been flying as a stewardess since 1957, as the profession was called back then. She has worked for American Airlines for 65 years and is considered a veteran of the company. This is not only record-breaking, but a world record, because it has now been recognized with an entry in the Guinness Book of Records.
Nash is reportedly the oldest and longest-serving flight attendant in the world. Most of the time, the definitely extremely experienced American Airlines employee works as a purser on the New York-Boston and Boston-Washington DC shuttle routes. Due to her long company affiliation and her advanced age, American Airlines has granted her the privilege of being able to choose the routes herself.
According to her own statements, she opted for the shuttle flights many years ago because she usually comes home every evening. There she helps her son, who is handicapped. How much longer will Nash fly? She doesn't know that, but she's definitely not thinking about quitting and wants to pursue her dream job as long as she can. According to her own statements, she feels in top shape and still enjoys her job as much as when she started, which was back in 1957.
