Westbahn, a private provider of Austrian and German rail transport, is once again focusing on customer friendliness and innovation. From now on, over 90% of the seats in Westbahn's modern double-decker trains can be reserved free of charge.

This means an increase in the number of reservable seats by a quarter. The timing of this measure could not be more appropriate: the increase in travel during Advent and the Christmas holidays makes planning security more important than ever for travelers.

Thomas Posch: More planning security for all travelers

Thomas Posch, Managing Director of Westbahn, emphasises the importance of seat reservations in his statement. With Westfixplatz – a free seat reservation that is available online for every passenger up to three hours before departure – Westbahn is once again demonstrating its customer-orientation. "Planning security and reliability are essential," emphasised Posch, and this is precisely what the expansion of the service is aimed at.

The introduction of the Westfixed Seat in combination with modern trains and comprehensive customer service is considered a key factor in the success of Westbahn. The expansion of the number of reservable seats takes into account the increasing number of passengers, which has been increasing continuously in recent years.

Positive demand development and innovative approaches

The Westbahn's success story is reflected in a growing number of customers. This shows that the service on the western route - one of the busiest railway lines in Austria - is valued by passengers. In addition to the well-known strengths, such as punctuality and comfort, innovative features also play a central role. With the "Relax Check-In", a digital self-service feature, passengers can check in themselves and collect bonus points. These "West Points" can be redeemed for upgrades, snacks or tickets - another sign of the consistent focus on the wishes of customers.

Westbahn as quality leader on the rails

Westbahn pursues a clear strategy: quality and innovation leadership in the rail sector. With a fleet of ultra-modern double-decker trains, Westbahn focuses on comfort and technical equipment. Power sockets at every seat, free WiFi and flexible tariff models underline the aim of making rail travel pleasant and reliable for all travelers.

The collaboration with partners such as the Klimaticket Ö further expands the offer. For holders of this ticket, seat reservation is already included. This offer makes the Westbahn particularly attractive for commuters and occasional travelers.
