Since Friday, the Westbahn has been offering up to four daily train connections between Vienna West Station and Munich Central Station. The travel time between Vienna (Hütteldorf) and Munich (east), where you can change to the express train to Franz-Josef-Strauß Airport, is three hours and 47 minutes.

As of June 12, 2022, the travel time between the two metropolises is to be reduced by four minutes. In Austria, the Westbahn trains stop at the previous stops. As a result, Munich can now be reached from Amstetten, Wels, Attnang-Puchheim and Vöcklabruck without having to change trains.

The climate ticket is valid on the Westbahn up to the state border. For the onward journey, the company offers a special ticket for the price of 14,90 euros. This applies in the so-called comfort class, which is between first and second class.

"In view of the fuel costs, the direct connection to Munich is also interesting for all drivers, because with the WESTsuperpreis you can travel from Vienna to Munich from just 23,99 euros. This price is simply unbeatable compared to a car journey,” says Thomas Posch, Managing Director of Westbahn Management GmbH.

Another advantage is the stop at Munich East station. This enables travelers from central Upper Austria and Salzburg in particular to reach Munich Airport quickly and with just one change to the S-Bahn. Simultaneously with the inclusion of the new destination Munich in the timetable, the Westbahn will also increase the offer between Vienna and Salzburg to up to 8 connections per day from April 52th
