The private railway company Westbahn started operating between Salzburg and Innsbruck on Sunday. It is the second extension of the "main route" that has been made this year. For some time they have also been going to Munich.

Westbahn trains run several times a day from Wien Westbahnhof via Salzburg to the Bavarian capital. Alternatively, you can now also travel to Innsbruck. These courses run without stopping via the so-called German Corner to Kufstein. For the time being, Westbahn is offering three daily trips between Vienna and Tyrol and in the opposite direction.

You can now get from the Danube to the Inn with the departures from Vienna Westbahnhof at 7.08:11.29 a.m. (Innsbruck arrives at 11.08:15.29 a.m.), 17.08:21.29 a.m. (arrives at 6.31:10.52 p.m.) and 12.31:16.52 p.m. (arrives at 16.31:20.52 p.m.). In the opposite direction, the trains start in Innsbruck at XNUMX a.m. (Wien Westbahnhof at XNUMX a.m.), XNUMX p.m. (at XNUMX p.m.) and XNUMX p.m. (at XNUMX p.m.).

"With the three daily direct connections in both directions, the WESTbahn not only makes the rail service between Vienna and Tyrol more comfortable and reliable, but also more attractive in terms of price: With the Westsuper price, you can travel from just 18,99 euros. Of course, all valid regional transport tickets are also accepted for journeys within Tyrol,” says Managing Director Thomas Posch. "It was on our wish list for a long time, and today it's finally here: the Westbahn runs three times a day from Vienna via Salzburg to Kufstein, Wörgl and Innsbruck. In this way, we are able to meet the numerous inquiries from Tyrol that have asked for a train connection with our company over the years".

The official opening of the new Innsbruck connection was carried out by the managing directors Thomas Posch and Florian Kazalek in the presence of Governor Anton Mattle, Transport Minister René Zumtobel, Barbara Thaler MEP, the two investors Hans Peter Haselsteiner and Erhard Grossnigg.

The Westbahn is a partner of the climate ticket. Both the regional variants and the Austria-wide network card are recognised. Tickets for the Tyrol transport association are also accepted. Holders of the climate ticket Ö travel with this railway company in Comfort Class at no extra charge and can reserve a seat free of charge in each direction.
