Romanian regional airline Air Connect has landed a new wet lease order. The ATR72-600, registered YR-ACA, has been flying for Air Serbia since Monday. As a rule, the turboprop aircraft is used on the Bucharest-Belgrade route.

It is not the only Romanian carrier flying for the Serbian carrier under an ACMI contract. For example, Dan Air has been flying two aircraft for Air Serbia for a few months. Both the Airbus A319 with the registration YR-URS and the A320 with the registration YR-DSE are used.

Air Connect sees itself as a low-cost airline, but so far it has mostly flown on behalf of other airlines. For example, they were on the road for Aeroitalia in Italy for some time. From the start of the 2023 summer timetable period, a very extensive route network is to be set up from Romania. For this reason, the wet lease cooperation with Air Serbia is limited until the end of March 2023.

The fleet of the young carrier currently consists of a single ATR72-600. This bears the registration YR-ACA and is almost 8,5 years old. In the course of this year, more turboprop aircraft of this type are to be flown into the fleet. From the beginning of April 2023, for example, Budapest will be served on its own account.

In the summer of 2023 you will fly again for Aeroitalia

The second ATR72-600 does not yet carry the Air Connect livery and has not yet been entered in the Romanian register. The identification YTR-ACB is reserved for the aircraft. Company boss Tudor Constantinescu recently announced at a press conference that in the 2023 summer flight schedule at least one ATR72-600 will be flown from Italy on behalf of Aeroitalia.

Furthermore, a codeshare and sales agreement has been concluded with this company, so that the scheduled flights of both providers can be booked via the other website. Taking into account the fact that one of the two turboprop aircraft has been planned for the Aeroitalia wet lease, the offer that one wants to offer on one's own account is planned with one aircraft quite "sporty".
