This April brought more than one million overnight stays in Vienna - for the first time since March 2020, the million mark was exceeded again.

Vienna closed April with a total of 1.041.000 overnight stays, which means a calculated increase of 1164 percent compared to April of the previous year, in which the accommodation facilities for leisure guests were closed, and accounts for 66 percent of the pre-crisis level in 2019. Easter this year fell entirely in April, which also favored the booking situation. In the months of January to April 2022, Vienna had 2.470.000 overnight stays (+724 percent compared to 2021).

Most overnight stays came from Germany (261.000, +2294 percent) and Austria (230.000, +442 percent), followed by the Ukraine, Italy, the USA, Spain, Great Britain, France, Israel and Romania in this year's top 10 . A total of 285.000 overnight stays were registered in the other markets.

The net overnight turnover of Viennese accommodation providers in March (data for April are not yet available) was 37,8 million euros, which is an arithmetical increase of 404 percent. In the period from January to March, the companies were able to generate around 76 million euros, which is 307 percent more than in the same period in 2021.
