In the last few days, Vienna Airport was able to celebrate the comeback of the British low-cost airline Jet2 and the new non-stop connection to Ancona by Aeroitalia.

The last-mentioned route was served for the first time on October 1, 2023. An ATR72-600 operated by the Romanian Air Connect is used on this route. The flights are carried out on Wednesdays and Sundays. Aeroitalia is operating from Vienna-Schwechat for the first time.

“We are pleased about the new Vienna-Ancona route in our route network. This direct connection offers business travelers and holidaymakers an exceptional opportunity to be seduced by Vienna's timeless charm. We see it as our mission to facilitate the connection between European cities and to offer a comfortable and high-quality travel experience,” said Gaetano Intrieri, CEO of Aeroitalia.

“In one and a half hours to the Adriatic coast: Aeroitalia is creating a new connection between Vienna and Ancona. The important port city in central Italy is a great addition to our route network to popular holiday destinations with numerous ferry connections. In addition, Austrian travelers also have the opportunity to use Aeroitalia's domestic Italian route network for onward travel. We say “Benvenuta Aeroitalia” and are very pleased to have a new airline partner at Vienna Airport and to be able to welcome more travelers from Italy in the future,” explains Julian Jäger, CEO of Flughafen Wien AG.

Last week the British airline Jet2 celebrated its comeback at Austria's largest airport. The British airline is now connecting Vienna with Manchester every Monday and Friday. From November, Jet2.com will also be adding a connection to Birmingham from Vienna to its route network. From today's perspective, the offers will run seasonally until April 29, 2024 (Birmingham) and May 20, 2024 (Manchester).

“We look forward to flying to Vienna from two of our UK airports this year and looking forward to working with our partners to make this route a great success. The combination of our award-winning flights, coupled with everything Vienna, Manchester and Birmingham have to offer British and Austrian holidaymakers, means we can look forward with confidence,” said Janice Mather, head of airports and tourism organizations at Jet2.com.

“With the comeback of Jet2.com at Vienna Airport, we are expanding our flight and destination offering in this region to include two exciting sightseeing highlights. Manchester and Birmingham are two lively cities, characterized by British culture and very attractive destinations, especially for city trips. The new flight offers are also important for incoming tourism, because many British guests enjoy the Christmas season in Vienna and visit the romantic Christmas markets or the city’s exciting cultural activities,” says Julian Jäger, CEO of Flughafen Wien AG.
