On Friday evening, Qatar Airways Cargo landed for the first time as part of a scheduled cargo connection at Vienna-Schwechat Airport. From now on, the carrier will head for the Austrian airport once a week with pure freighters.

Qatar Airways has been offering passenger flights between Vienna and Doha since 2003. What is new is that a pure cargo connection is now also being offered once a week. The premiere flight took place on Friday evening. In addition to an A310 freighter, the fleet of the cargo division of Qatar Airways also includes two Boeing 747-8 freighters, 21 Boeing 777 freighters and five Airbus A330 freighters.

“Air freight is an important market area for Vienna Airport and we are constantly investing in a modern and efficient infrastructure. In addition to qualitative cargo services, Vienna Airport also offers a great deal of know-how in this area. We are very pleased that airlines recognize our competence and that Qatar Airways Cargo has decided to now operate a regular cargo connection to Vienna,” says Julian Jäger, CEO of Flughafen Wien AG.
